Field Measurement
Services

Our X-ray Diffraction Field Measurement Services team uses our portable x-ray diffraction systems on-location to provide rapid and precise retained austenite and residual stress measurements while paying strict attention to safety.

Our systems meet or exceed the requirements of ANSI 43.2 for open-beam operation. Our A2LA accreditation governs the quality of field and laboratory services.

Our portable, centerless diffractometers allow our team to perform nondestructive measurements on a wide variety of sizes and geometries of complex parts ranging in size from traces on a circuit board to a steam line in a major power plant. The Field Measurement Services are quick and precise, minimizing downtime at your location. These measurements can identify potential problems allowing quick remedies before a catastrophic failure shuts down your operation.

The services team performs retained austenite measurements using two distinct austenite and two distinct martensite peaks. ASTM and SAE require the measurement of at least two austenite peaks for accurate measurement. Our retained austenite measurements are performed in accordance with ASTM E975 and SAE SP-453. Residual stress measurements conform to best practices outlined in ASTM E915, ASTM E2860 and SAE HS784. We meet today’s strictest A2LA (ISO/ IEC Guide 17O25) and ISO-9OO1 quality standards requirements.
